Buying outfits and décor over video calls can be daunting. Our success kit helps you feel confident and prepared for your virtual shopping sessions with designers and vendors.
Measurement Taking
- Use a soft measuring tape and have a friend assist you. Wear fitted clothing to get accurate readings.
- Record measurements in inches and centimetres. Note bust/chest, waist, hip, arm length, shoulder width and height.
- Double‑check each measurement and send photographs of how the tape is positioned to your designer.
Lighting & Video Setup
- Choose a bright room with natural light or set up two lamps at 45° angles to avoid harsh shadows.
- Position your camera at eye level and stabilise it on a stand or stack of books.
- Test your internet connection and audio before the call to prevent interruptions.
Questions to Ask Sellers
- What fabrics are used and are there lining options for comfort?
- How will sizing adjustments be handled if the garment doesn’t fit perfectly on arrival?
- What is the estimated delivery date and does it include customs clearance?
- Can you provide detailed close‑up images or videos of embroidery, embellishments and colour?
Quality Check & Alteration Plan
- Upon receiving your outfit, inspect seams, zippers and embellishments carefully. Note any discrepancies immediately.
- Plan for at least one fitting with a local tailor. Always allocate a buffer of 2–3 weeks before the event for alterations.
- Keep your original measurements on file to compare with the garment’s finished measurements.
